Bed Foam Mattress
Can I put a memory foam mattress on regular bed rails?
You will need some support underneath it. I would get a sheet of 5/8″ plywood (about $25) and put that on the rails first and then the mattress on top of that. If you have a queen or king bed, then you may need 2 sheets of plywood and turn them sideways to accommodate the larger widths of those beds. I would be prepared with measurements of the bed so you can have the person at the Home Depot or Lowes cut the plywood for you. Make sure to get 5/8″ plywood. It’s more expensive but anything thinner will easily snap under the weight of 2 people.
